After us the deluge – Kadir van Lohuizen is a book about the concern that the world is slowly overflooding because of the rising temperatures. The book visualizes for example which countries will literally drown first if things do not change. For the minor Cross cultural data visualization we had to make a “real life” visualization inspired by examples from this book.

The result
The visualization consist of a tube where 3 different countries are represented. The top one represents Greenland, this country consist mostly out of ice, and is rapidly melting because of the rising temperatures. On the bottom Kiribati is represented, because this country will flood in a few decades if nothing changes. In the middle of the tube the Netherlands is represented, if we do not do anything about the rising temperatures it will not take long for the dykes to break in the Netherlands and for us to be under water because of the rising sea level.
